Caitlyn Ivey denies abandoning husband after Bulls waiver

Caitlyn Ivey, wife of NBA guard Jaden Ivey, disputed social media claims that she abandoned him after the Chicago Bulls waived him for conduct detrimental to the team. The waiver followed Ivey's Instagram livestream comments criticizing Pride Month and citing his Christian faith. In a Wednesday Instagram story, Caitlyn Ivey responded to direct messages, writing she had never abandoned him through trials and urged others to avoid conspiracies.

Ivey claimed during a livestream that his wife watched his broadcast without contacting him amid family betrayal over his remarks. He described the Bulls' decision as a lie, insisting he met all professional requirements while preaching about Jesus Christ. Ivey also discussed overcoming pornography addiction through Christianity, criticized NBA stars like Steph Curry and LeBron James for lacking true faith, and called Catholicism a false religion.

A fifth overall pick by the Detroit Pistons in the 2022 NBA Draft, Ivey earned All-Rookie honors in 2022-23 with averages of 16.3 points, 3.9 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game. Traded to the Bulls in a three-team deal involving the Pistons and Minnesota Timberwolves, he posted a career-high 17.6 points per game in 2024-25 before regressing and appearing in four games this season, averaging 11.5 points and 4.8 rebounds.
