Former U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed support for golfers from LIV Golf and the PGA Tour to play against each other, criticizing the PGA Tour as a monopoly in past comments.[4]

Trump, a golf course owner who has hosted LIV Golf events at his properties, has highlighted desired matchups such as Rory McIlroy against Bryson DeChambeau, and Jon Rahm against Scottie Scheffler.[4]

LIV Golf launched in June 2022 with backing from Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), featuring a 54-hole individual and team format with no cut and shotgun starts.[5]

The league fields 54 players across 13 teams, including major winners Brooks Koepka (2023 PGA Championship)[2] and Bryson DeChambeau (2024 U.S. Open).[3]

Trump-owned courses have hosted LIV events, including Bedminster, New Jersey in 2022; Trump National Golf Club Washington D.C. in 2023; Trump National Doral in Miami in 2024; and upcoming Trump National Golf Club in Potomac, Virginia on May 2-4, 2025.[1]

LIV Golf's 2025 season schedule comprises 14 regular-season events worldwide, beginning February 7-9 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, followed by team championships in late September.[1]
