Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce said girlfriend Taylor Swift's passion for creating music helped motivate him as he weighed his football future following the 2023 season.[1][2]

Kelce, born October 5, 1989, appeared on ESPN's "The Pat McAfee Show" in June 2024, where he discussed Swift's drive to produce new material with enthusiasm and joy, calling it motivating amid his own deliberations.[1][3]

"We share the same love for what we do," Kelce said, adding that Swift's example encouraged him to conclude he was "not done" with the game.[1]

The three-time Super Bowl champion with Kansas City (LIV in 2020, LVII and LVIII in 2023 and 2024) described his retirement considerations as "short and brief," noting he remains in love with football and wants to continue with the Chiefs.[4][5]

Kelce has earned nine Pro Bowl selections and holds NFL records for tight ends in postseason receiving yards (2,227) and receptions (147).[3][6]

The Chiefs have qualified for the playoffs in each season since 2015, winning three Super Bowls in that span.[4]
