Katerina Siniakova of the Czech Republic beat Mirra Andreeva of Russia 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-3 in the women's singles third round of the BNP Paribas Open on March 9, 2026, at Indian Wells Tennis Garden in Indian Wells, California. The WTA 1000 event features a 128-player singles draw in the early spring hard-court season.[1][2]
Andreeva, the 18-year-old world No. 8 and defending champion from her 2025 title win here, received a code violation for smashing her racket during the second-set tiebreak. She asked her team to leave the court at that point.[3][4]
Siniakova, a 28-year-old doubles specialist ranked No. 38 in singles with four Grand Slam doubles titles, converted her first match point in the third set to advance.[2][5]
After the match, Andreeva threw her racket toward her bench, briefly shook hands with Siniakova at the net, then shouted "Fuck you all" multiple times toward the crowd.[3][6]
In a post-match interview, Andreeva said: "It was to myself, to everyone, basically. I mean, after the loss, I just get very angry, so I say those things sometimes to myself. First to myself, of course, but then, yeah, it was just anger coming out, just a lot of emotions. Not really towards anyone."[6]
Later, after winning her doubles match with partner Victoria Mboko, Andreeva expressed regret. "Well, of course, I can say that there were a lot of emotions that I was going through after the loss. But, of course, I’m not really proud of how I managed it. I’m not really proud of how I handled it in the end," she said. "Those are the things that I really need to work on soon."[3][4]
Andreeva holds two WTA 1000 singles titles, from Indian Wells and Dubai in 2025.[4]
