Scottsdale police arrested Phoenix Suns forward Dillon Brooks early Friday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence following a routine traffic stop for violations. The arrest took place at 1:33 a.m. local time in Scottsdale, Arizona.[1][2]

Brooks was transported to Scottsdale City Jail and released after the booking process around 3:30 a.m., a police spokesperson told reporters.[1][2]

The Phoenix Suns released a statement acknowledging the incident: "We are aware of the situation involving Dillon Brooks and are gathering more information. We have no further comment at this time."[1][3]

Dillon Brooks, a Canadian small forward born January 22, 1996, was selected by the Memphis Grizzlies with the 45th overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft out of the University of Oregon. He played six seasons with the Grizzlies before joining the Houston Rockets via sign-and-trade in July 2023.[5][6]

Brooks has been known for his defensive tenacity and involved in a notable on-court feud with Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James during the 2023 NBA playoffs. Brooks received a flagrant foul and one-game suspension after striking James below the waist in Game 2 of their first-round series.[5][7]
