TYLER, Texas -- Pat Mahomes Sr., father of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, agreed to a two-year extension of his probation during a hearing on October 14, 2024, in Smith County District Court following an alleged violation of his community supervision terms.[1][2]

Mahomes, 53, a former Major League Baseball pitcher who played from 1992 to 2003 for five teams and appeared in 306 games with a career record of 42 wins and 39 losses, was arrested on February 28, 2024, in Tyler, Texas, on a felony charge of driving while intoxicated, third or more offense.[3][4][5]

On August 23, 2024, he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to five years of felony probation, a $5,500 fine, 40 hours of community service, a substance abuse evaluation and treatment, ignition interlock device installation, and other conditions.[3][4]

Mahomes was booked into Smith County Jail on October 10, 2024, on a warrant alleging he violated probation by consuming alcohol.[1][2]

Prosecutors withdrew their motion to revoke probation at the hearing. Mahomes agreed to extend the probation to seven years, enroll in an outpatient substance abuse treatment program, increase community service to 100 hours, and serve a 30-day jail sanction, which was credited as time served based on his recent incarceration. He was released later that afternoon.[1][2]

His attorney, David L. Dobkins, confirmed the agreement to local media outlets.[1]
