The New York Jets are set to acquire Miami Dolphins safety Minkah Fitzpatrick in a trade for a 2026 seventh-round draft pick originally obtained from the Los Angeles Chargers, ESPN reported on Monday.[1][2]
Fitzpatrick's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, told ESPN that the player will sign a three-year, $40 million contract with the Jets upon completion of the deal.[1]
Fitzpatrick, 27, was selected by the Dolphins with the No. 11 overall pick in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft out of the University of Alabama.[3][4]
The Dolphins traded him to the Pittsburgh Steelers in September 2019 in exchange for cornerback Jalen Ramsey and a first-round draft pick.[3][4]
Fitzpatrick has earned three Associated Press All-Pro honors -- second team in 2019 and first team in 2022 and 2023 -- and has been selected to five Pro Bowls (2020-2022, 2024).[3][4]
The trade comes as NFL free agency begins, with teams making roster moves ahead of the 2026 season.[1][2]
