Jerry Jones, owner, president and general manager of the NFL's Dallas Cowboys since 1989, commented on the team's defensive performance during the 2025 season.[1][2]
The Cowboys play their home games at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.[3]
Jones highlighted offseason additions to the defense overseen by the front office, along with plans for the upcoming NFL Draft and the return of veteran defensive players limited by injuries last year.
"What we’ve done on defense, plus what we have set up for the draft, plus what we have coming back from our veteran defensive players that really didn’t play that much last year — injury issues, things like that — gives us a lot of promise," Jones said.
Jones added that the defensive challenges last season impacted the team's performance, stating, "When you have the challenges we had last year, there’s no place to go but up on the defensive side of the ball. Had we played a lick of defense last year, we would’ve had ourselves, I think, a real playoff run."
The Dallas Cowboys compete in the NFC East division of the National Football League (NFL).
