Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark left a WNBA preseason game against the Dallas Wings after colliding with Wings forward Alanna Smith in the third quarter. Clark, attempting a step-back three-point shot, landed awkwardly on Smith's foot, rolled to the court, and hobbled toward the bench.

Officials reviewed the play and called a flagrant 1 foul on Smith for failing to provide sufficient landing space. Fever head coach Stephanie White kept Clark out for the remainder of the game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

Caitlin Clark, a 22-year-old American guard, won the WNBA Rookie of the Year award in 2024 after setting the league's single-season assists record with 337.[1][2] She averaged 19.2 points, 8.4 assists and 5.7 rebounds per game that season.[1]

Alanna Smith, a 27-year-old Australian forward, signed a four-year contract with the Dallas Wings in November 2024 following four seasons with the Minnesota Lynx.[3][4] Smith averaged 10.9 points and 6.2 rebounds in 38 games for the Lynx in 2024.[3]

Gainbridge Fieldhouse, located in Indianapolis, Indiana, has served as the Fever's home arena since the 2002 season and was renamed in 2021.[5]

WNBA preseason games typically precede the regular season, which is scheduled to begin in mid-May.[2]
