Sherrone Moore, former head coach of the University of Michigan Wolverines football team, appeared at the 14A-1 District Court in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on March 6, 2026, holding hands with his wife, Kelli Moore.[1][2]
Moore pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor charges that day, resolving a felony criminal case.[1][2] The case stemmed from an alleged incident at the home of a former university staffer following Moore's dismissal from Michigan in December 2025.[1][3]
Prosecutors stated Moore had an intimate relationship with the staffer for several years and contacted her via phone and texts after their breakup, leading her to report the matter to the university.[1] The staffer's contract with Michigan was not renewed, according to the school.[1]
According to prosecutors, after his firing, Moore allegedly entered the staffer's residence uninvited, took a butter knife and kitchen scissors, and threatened self-harm, saying "My blood is on your hands" and "You ruined my life."[1][2]
Kelli Moore previously appeared in the same court on January 22, 2026, and had called 911 expressing concern that her husband might harm himself after his dismissal.[1][3]
Moore succeeded Jim Harbaugh as Michigan head coach following the Wolverines' 34-13 College Football Playoff national championship victory over Washington on January 8, 2024.[4][5] Moore had served as offensive coordinator and offensive line coach for that title-winning team.[4][5]
During the 2023 season, Moore received a three-game suspension related to an NCAA sign-stealing investigation involving former staffer Connor Stalions.[4][5]
