Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson requested a trade on November 5, 2024, after the team informed him it would not offer a contract extension.[1][2]

The 29-year-old Hendrickson is in the final year of a four-year, $60 million contract extension signed with the Bengals in June 2021, shortly after his arrival via trade from the New Orleans Saints.[3][4] He stands to become an unrestricted free agent following the 2024 season.

The NFL trade deadline passed on October 29 without a deal for Hendrickson. The Baltimore Ravens, who entered their week nine bye with a 7-1 record atop the AFC North standings, are among the teams that inquired about acquiring him in recent weeks.[1][2][5]

A four-time Pro Bowl selection (2020-2023) and 2023 second-team All-Pro, Hendrickson has recorded 42 sacks in 52 games with Cincinnati.[3][6] His career totals stand at 58.5 sacks over 112 regular-season appearances.[3][6]

Hendrickson's 17.5 sacks in 2023 led the AFC.[3][6] This season, limited by an early hamstring injury, he has registered 3 sacks, 17 tackles and 2 forced fumbles in 8 games.[3][6]

The Bengals sit at 4-5 after a 34-18 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on November 3.[5] A move to Baltimore would keep Hendrickson in the AFC North, where the Ravens rank second in the NFL in scoring defense at 16.6 points allowed per game.[5]

Free agency negotiations can begin March 11, 2025, with signing allowed from March 12.[7]
