Bayley won a women’s gauntlet match on Monday Night Raw, earning the right to challenge AJ Lee for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship on the next episode of the show.

The matchup revives a rivalry nearly 13 years old. The pair last competed on the August 19, 2013, episode of Raw in Bakersfield, California, where AJ Lee defeated Bayley via submission with the Black Widow to retain the WWE Divas Championship.[1][2]

Bayley, entering her WWE main roster career at the time, was pinned as a newcomer by the established Lee, then a two-time Divas Champion.[3][4]

Bayley has since achieved significant success, capturing the SmackDown Women’s Championship three times, the Raw Women’s Championship once—for a total of four women’s world title reigns—and the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship twice.[5][6]

Lee retired from full-time wrestling in March 2015 following WrestleMania 31.[3][4] She is married to fellow WWE performer CM Punk.

“Man, it’s so weird... Now, I’m like, ‘Of course we’re supposed to have this match together,’” Bayley said of facing Lee in an interview with Fox News Digital.

The title match airs on Netflix at 8 p.m. ET, in line with WWE Raw’s new streaming agreement beginning January 2025.[7][8]
