Glen Davis, a member of the Boston Celtics' 2008 NBA championship team, was released from federal prison on October 24, 2024, and transferred to a halfway house.[1][2]

Davis was sentenced to 40 months in prison on November 13, 2023, by U.S. District Judge LaShann DeArcy Hall for conspiring to commit health care fraud against the NBA Players’ Health and Benefit Welfare Plan.[1][3]

Davis was one of at least 18 former NBA players charged in the scheme, which involved submitting fraudulent claims for dental and massage therapy services worth more than $4 million.[1][3]

His attorney, Brendan White, told The Athletic that Davis "used his time productively while serving his sentence and took many programs during that time" and is "ready to become a productive member of society again."[2]

Davis posted a video on X confirming his release, saying: "They tried to hold me down. You know what I’m saying? But I’m back, man. I’m back, baby."[2]

In addition to the prison term, Davis must serve three years of supervised release, complete a financial management class and drug treatment program, and pay $80,000 in restitution.[1][3]

He is expected to be released from the halfway house in early July 2025.[2]

Davis played nine NBA seasons from 2007 to 2015, winning the 2008 title with the Celtics before stints with the Orlando Magic and Los Angeles Clippers.[4]
